The "Lugana DOC" wine arises from the old vine variety "Trebbiano di Lugana", grown in layered clay soils, mostly calcareous, rich in mineral salts.
Only these soils give this wine its features of extreme freshness and sapidity.
A white wine fermentation technique, "in bianco", is used to separate the must from the solids by applying light pressure and careful control of fermentation temperature.
This preserves the exceptionally delicate almond- and white peach-like varietal aromas.
Its colour is light straw yellow, with greenish glares.
Its taste is dry, tending to sapid.
Only best vintages are suitable for a short period of aging.
This wine is an ideal aperitif.
It matches appetizers, fish, seafood, and white meats.
It also is an excellent accompaniment with ripe cheeses.
The Lugana DOC should be served at 8-10° C.
